About Us..

We have been in the jewellery manufacturing business for over 50 years, frightening when written down!  It was all started by Richard Gillson a toolmaker from Birmingham who was asked to design a press tool for a global semi-conductor business using silver as the base material.

Having produced many thousands of these (used in most road traffic light systems today) he tried his hand at producing some jewellery first with a hand press then later using power presses, he was one of the first to transform what was traditionally a hand made item into something that could be mass manufactured at that time.

What really started out as an interest turned into a business and at its height 20 people were employed producing over a 100 different designs of finished jewellery merchandise as well as gold and silver findings of varying dimensions for the jewellery manufacturing industry.

As gold and silver prices continued to rise customers wanted smaller and finer findings and fittings to keep the cost of the finished jewellery down, and Richard excelled at tool design overcoming the challenges of tooling at such a small scale. This has left us with a legacy of tooling that allows us to produce a wide range of forms from very small, lightweight gold and silver findings and fittings with their lower cost association to the larger and heavier findings at the more expensive end of the scale.

Sadly Richard passed on several years ago and today the business is a much leaner enterprise, one of the few of an ever diminishing number of independent family based jewellery manufacturing companies still operating in the Jewellery Quarter.

With Richard's daughter Jane having been at the helm for over 20 years,  proud of the family legacy and to be a UK manufacturer she will be welcoming to anyone who wants to buy British and happy to supply to the independent craft jewellery businesses right up to the international jwellery wholesalers, jewellery disributors, jewellery shops whereever they may be.
